This
October issue of JEPonline
contains the research abstracts presented at the first
national
meeting of ASEP, held at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth Minnesota
on
October
2-3, 1998. As explained in my summary
of the meeting, this event was an historic
occasion,
and the abstracts that follow are not necessarily noteworthy for just their
scientific
quality
but also for the message that they portray; a message of the ability of
exercise
physiologists,
no matter what the level of their terminal degree, to be able to come together
and
contribute to the scientific and professional quality of their profession.
Abstracts
of the national meeting will be presented in each October issue of JEPonline.
All
exercise
physiologists are requested to stay updated with the ASEP website to learn
of
additions
to the contents of the second annual meeting of ASEP to be held at the
University
of
New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico on either October 1-2, 8-9, or 15-16.
