| I'm not sure why but "leadership" is on my mind today. Why is leadership important? Well, not being an expert on the topic, I decided to submit my thinking on leadership to just see if others agree or disagree. First, it seems to me a leader is responsible for keeping attention on the vision. Keeping, in this case, the ASEP organization front page news, so as to keep breathing air into the life of its members. Second, leaders are probably more concerned with saying what is in his/her heart than avoiding it because others might disagree. They are transparent, having placed all their cards on the table. Third, in other words, leaders have the courage to take a stand even if it is unpopular, even if they are criticized and joked about and, yes, even when others fail to understand. Fourth, leaders take risks because they know in their heart of hearts that they are doing the right things for the right reasons. You might say it is their sixth sense for thinking about the impossible or the unimaginable. Fifth, leaders are authentic and that is the plain simple truth. That is as I see it today. |
