School of Health and Human Sciences Southern Cross University is a dynamic, contemporary university located on the Mid North and North Coast of New South Wales, Australia with a new campus being developed on the Gold Coast. The School of Health and Human Sciences provides an exciting and innovative learning environment and works with individuals, families and communities in order to meet their health needs and requirements. The School offers fields of study across a broad range of health professions including nursing, public health, lifestyle medicine, sport and exercise science, nutrition, psychology, and natural and complementary medicine. Commencing in 2009 it will progressively introduce new courses in allied health and midwifery. The School is distinctive for its multidisciplinary understanding of patient care, commitment to the prevention of disease and promotion of healthy lifestyles, and working with Indigenous colleagues to develop culturally appropriate models of care. A special focus is the development of an Academic Health Centre, based on the seamless integration of practice, learning and research. This will facilitate the preparation of reflective, critically aware practitioners, able to respond to the emerging health needs of their communities and take a leadership role in the future direction of health care. The School is seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar to provide leadership across a range of activities including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and development, and research activities for Exercise, Health and Well-being. The successful applicant will be expected to facilitate and nurture research and learning development within the curriculum and practice of Exercise Science as it relates to health and wellbeing.
